(6) A slight change of plan

We were due to leave late Thursday afternoon to drive to Kent and stay with friends before catching an early Eurotunnel train to Calais on the Friday morning. That was the intention at least. But as they say, the best laid plans...

I got the call Thursday afternoon from Sue to say her cat Millie had been hit by a car. Fortunately Millie survived but had fractured her hip and Sue needed to sort out all those things that need sorting when you are about to leave your cat for two weeks and it gets run over 8 hours before you depart. So 'Team Millie 2013' (so named as we both have cats by that name) nearly became ‘Team Millie 2013 minus 1’.

A few last minute changes and re-bookings and we are now heading off at 3am on Saturday from Chearsley to Dover and the ferry across the Channel. The boot is loaded: bags of camping gear, clothing, car spares, gadgets and enough chargers to re-equip the Light Brigade. I know that somewhere in there too Sue has smuggled in the hair dryer, curling tongs, foot massager and a ton of chocolate...
